July 18, 2006 — AK Steel announced it will add a $235 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in August 2006.

The company notes that its surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the June 2006 purchase cost used to determine the August 2006 surcharges.

AK Steel’s August 2006 surcharges are available on the company's website.

Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
