Steel Producers / AK Steel AK Steel's Zanesville Works Receives Four Safety Awards

AK Steel’s Zanesville Works received four awards at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Safety Council’s annual safety meeting. The awards were presented by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, division of Safety and Hygiene.

The Zanesville Works’ awards included:

  • A Group Award for having the lowest incident rate in the industrial group.
  • The 100% Award for operating one year without a lost-time injury.
  • An Achievement Award for reducing the number of lost-time injuries by at least 25%.
  • A Special Award for working 910,352 hours without a lost-time injury.

“Safety is AK Steel’s top priority,” said James L. Wainscott, President and CEO of AK Steel. “We congratulate our Zanesville Works employees for their excellent safety record, including their achievement of working a full year with zero lost-time injuries.”


Headquartered in Middletown, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets, as well as tubular steel products.
