Steel Producers / Allegheny Technologies Update on Allegheny Technologies Chief Executive

Allegheny Technologies Inc. Chairman, President and CEO L. Patrick Hassey is expected to resume his normal duties shortly following what has been described as “successful cardiac artery bypass surgery” on Friday, Sep. 14 at Presbyterian University Hospital, part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
 
The procedure was characterized as a complete success by Hassey’s doctors.
 
Hassey has served as President and CEO since October 1, 2003, and was elected Chairman on May 6, 2004. He has 35 years of international experience in metals manufacturing, engineered products, marketing and sales, formerly serving as Executive Vice President and a member of the corporate executive committee at Alcoa, Inc., at the time of his early retirement in February 2003.
 
Prior to becoming President and CEO of Allegheny Technologies, Hassey had been working as an outside management consultant to ATI executive management.
 
Allegheny Technologies Inc. is one of the largest and most diversified specialty metals producers in the world with revenues of $5.5 billion during the most recent four quarters ending June 30, 2007. The company’s major markets are aerospace and defense, chemical process industry/oil and gas, electrical energy, medical, automotive, food equipment and appliance, machine and cutting tools, and construction and mining. Products include titanium and titanium alloys, nickel-based alloys and superalloys, stainless and specialty steels, zirconium, hafnium, and niobium, tungsten materials, grain-oriented silicon electrical steel and tool steels, and forgings and castings.
