Broner to Provide MES, Scheduling Solution for Sahaviriya Steel Industries UK
Dec. 22, 2011 Sahaviriya Steel Industries UK (SSI UK) has selected Broner Metals Solutions to provide new MES and Integrated scheduling solution for their Teesside plant over a two-phase project.
In the first phase of the project, the following MES functions will be implemented over a short period to provide:
· Manufacturing Order Management
· Production Tracking
· Quality Tracking and Certification
· Inventory Management and Shipping
· Provision of Port Terminals to register ship loading
· Integration of Steel Plan Process Automation
The second phase, which is to take place after plant startup, will comprise integration of the manufacturing order dressing MES function with SAP as well as the installation of Broner’s caster scheduler (CS) and melt shop control center (MSCC) production scheduling modules.
Broner will design and implement interfaces between the MES and Scheduling solutions and SSI’s Process Automation systems. The interfaces will allow SSI to receive historic production and quality information from the steel plant as slabs are cast, and provide manufacturing order data containing manufacturing order specifications. The interfaces will also allow them to send schedules and production data for each production operation, for each heat, and provide re-routing, start, end time and temperature information.
Sahaviriya Steel Industries UK Ltd, located at Redcar in the North East England, is a 100% owned UK based subsidiary of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited (SSI). SSI UK comprises iron and steelmaking facilities with an annual capacity of 3.6 million tonnes of slab production.
