Industry Suppliers / Concast Concast to Supply Billet Caster for Shagang Rongsheng

Oct. 1, 2006

Oct. 2006 — Zhangjiagang Rongsheng Steelmaking Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of the Shagang Group, China, has placed an order with Concast, Switzerland, for the supply of a five-strand billet caster.

The new section sizes to be cast are 150 to 160 mm square. The Concast high-speed caster, which will have an 8-meter radius, will be supplied with a CCS-Concast straightener, mold and retractable oscillator as well as secondary cooling.

This is the eighth successive facility and represents a total of 45 strands that Concast has delivered to the Shagang Group. The newest caster will be set up at Zhang Jia Gang City in the Jiangsu Province.


Concast AG forms part of the Metallurgical Plant and Rolling Mill Technology Business Area of the SMS group. SMS GmbH is the holding for a group of companies internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering relating to the processing of steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The group is divided into the Business Areas of Metallurgical Plant and Rolling Mill Technology, Tube, Long Product and Forging Technology and Plastics Technology. In the year 2005 some 9,250 employees worldwide generated a turnover of about EUR 2.33 billion.
