Oct. 2006 — Mechel Targoviste AG, Romania, a member of the Russian Mechel group, has placed an order with Concast, Switzerland, to build a continuous caster.

The three-strand caster will guarantee an annual production of 500,000 tonnes. It will cast sections sized 140- x 140-mm and 150- x 180-mm. The facility will be equipped with a new stopper rod mechanism for both open and submerged casting.

Concast’s scope of supply also includes modern CONVEX^® technology and marking machines.

Commissioning is scheduled for March 2007.
