Shagang Group Orders Minimill and Caster from Concast
Oct. 1, 2006 Oct. 2006 — Zhangjiagang Hongchang Wire Rod Co. Ltd., a member of the Shagang Group, China, recently concluded an agreement with Concast, Switzerland, for a 1.15 million tonne/year minimill.
Concast’s scope of supply includes a 110-tonne electric arc furnace with single-bucket charging and hot metal supply, ladle furnace and four-position turret, and a twin-tank vacuum degassing facility.
A six-strand caster will produce a 150-mm square section size. It will be equipped with Convex® technology and accessories.
Commissioning of the minimill is planned for the spring of 2007.
