Industry Suppliers / Danieli Danieli to Supply Flexible Bar and Section Mill for Beshay Steel

Feb. 5, 2008
Beshay Steel, Egypt, has contracted Danieli Morgårdshammar to supply a new state-of-the-art flexible bar and section mill with a designed production capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year.

The 18-stand continuous rolling mill will be made up entirely of SHS housingless stands in H, V, H/V, and combined H/U universal arrangement. The H/U stands will be dedicated to production of high-quality parallel-flange beams.

The new mill’s bar finishing facilities will feature an 84-meter cooling bed fitted with a water-spray extra-cooling system, and start-stop-type in-line straightening and cut-to-length services. Danieli will also equip the line with disk saws, a 24-meter single-head magnetic stacker, and bundling and collecting facilities.

The new bar and section mill’s product range will include 30- to 100-mm angles and correspondent channels, 80- to 120-mm beams, 30 to 150 flats, 12- to 50-mm diameter quality rounds, and corresponding squares.

The mill will be fed by an 80-tonne/hour walking hearth reheat furnace supplied by Danieli Centro Combustion. Danieli Automation will supply the electricals as well as the automation and process control system.

Plant startup is scheduled for the second quarter of 2009.
