BMZ (Byelorussian Metallurgical Works), Zhlobin, Belarus, has selected Danieli Centro Met to perform the first significant revamping of its existing EAFs.

Danieli’s upgrade of the existing No. 1 and No. 3 EAFs will allow BMZ to increase the production capacity of its No. 1 and No. 2 steelmaking plants from 650,000 up to one million tonnes/year. To achieve the production increase, Danieli will install FastArc^™ injection technology and process optimization/automation packages.

Equipment installation is targeted to take place during second half of 2007.

Two 6-strand Danieli billet casters have been in operation at the same plant since the mid-1980s.
