Jan. 2006 — Hengyang Steel Tube Co. Ltd., P.R. China, recently started up its new 100-tonne Danieli EAF and 4-strand Danieli “FastCast” conticaster for large-size special steel round blooms at its meltshop in Hengyang (Hunan Valin Group), Hunan Province.

The new full-platform split-shell type EAF, fitted with the latest Danarc Module technology, feeds the new 4-strand Danieli bloom caster. The 12-meter radius conticaster is designed for producing approximately 600,000 tonnes per year of 220-, 280- and 330-mm diameter round blooms in a wide range of quality and special steels for the production of high-quality seamless tubes, including high-pressure tubes.

The state-of-the-art “FastCast” conticaster features stopper rod operation, hydraulically controlled oscillating tables, mould EMS and air-mist secondary cooling system.

Danieli Automation supplied an advanced Level 2 automation and process control system.
