Al Ittefaq Steel, Saudi Arabia, recently contracted Danieli to supply new EWR^® Endless Welding Rolling lines for the company’s rolling mills in Damman and Jeddah.

The new lines will provide on-line automatic welding of 150-mm-billets at rates of 75 and 120 tonnes per hour, respectively.

Through on-line automatic head-to-tail flash welding of billets at the delivery side of the reheat furnace, the EWR system facilitates endless-rolling operation at the mill, resulting in improved plant productivity, efficiency, material yield and production costs.

The new lines enlarge the Danieli scorecard list to a total of 16 EWR units supplied or under supply worldwide since 1997. The new facilities are scheduled for startup in early 2007.
