July 2006 — Cosica recently commissioned a new Danieli Centro Maskin bar straightening and inspection line at its Apizaco plant (Grupo SIMEC) in Mexico.

The line is designed for processing of 16- to 80-mm diameter hot-rolled bars. It comprises a 2-roll straightening machine, deburring station and NDT units for detecting surface and internal defects.

Danieli Automation supplied the complete automation system.

The new installation will enable Cosica to increase its production capacity to 120,000 tonnes of SBQ bars per year for automotive applications.
