Danieli to Upgrade Rolling Mills for Beltrame Group
Apr. 1, 2006 April 2006 — The Beltrame Group has awarded Danieli a contract to reconstruct the hot rolling and finishing facilities at the company’s “T320” Laminés Marchands Européens (LME) mill in Trith Saint Leger, France. The modernization is being undertaken in order to enlarge the present product range and at enhance mill operation and efficiency.
Danieli’s scope of supply for the project comprises replacement of the present mill stands with new H, V and H/V housingless-type rolling units and auxiliaries, arranged according to a modern and rational layout. Danieli will also install a new 80-meter long cooling bed with in-line multi-strand straightener, a new 16-meter automatic stacker for profiles, and bundling facilities.
The upgrade will enable production of 45- to 120-mm angles, equivalent unequal angles, up to 160-mm channels and I-beams, 50- to 200-mm flats and 50- to 80-mm tees, at rates of up to 120 tonne/hour.
Danieli Automation will supply electricals and the automation system. The upgrading project will be carried out in two phases, in December 2006 and December 2007, for optimization of plant stoppages.
Danieli will also modernize the Beltrame Group’s bar and light section mill at AFV Beltrame in Vicenza. The project will encompass complete replacement of the intermediate and finishing rolling units with roll stands of the same type and size of those to be supplied to LME, to help promote equipment standardization.
The mill produces 12- to 30-mm diameter round and square bars, 25- to 120-mm flats, up to 80x40-mm unequal angles, and correspondent channels and tees at rates of up to 100 tonne/hour.
This project will also be implemented in two implementation stages, with the first plant stoppage in August 2006 and the second in December 2007.
