May 31, 2006 — Nucor recently restarted operation of its Jackson, Miss., bar and section mill. The mill had been upgraded by Danieli.

The mill upgrade, which targeted improved efficiency and operating conditions, included the installation of three new SHS housingless stands at the finishing mill, in H and H/V convertible configuration. Provision has also been made for installation of automatic quick-changing facilities.

The mill produces multi-strand slit No. 3 to No. 11 reinforcing bar, plain round bars, 1- to 2-inch angles, and flats up to 5 inches, at rates of up to 115 ton/hour.
