Oct. 1, 2006
Oct. 2006 — Shougang Jingtang Iron & Steel United Co. Ltd., P.R. China, recently awarded an order to Danieli Davy Distington for a new slab production complex to be installed in the Caofeidian area.
The new state-of-the-art machines are vertical-curved casters with a 9.5-meter main radius and continuous bending and unbending roll diagram. They will incorporate latest Danieli technologies including INMO mould, Dynamic Soft Reduction and OPTIMUM. The casters will be designed with a supported length of more than 43.5 meters for a maximum casting speed exceeding 2.3 meter/minute at full quality.
Danieli’s scope of supply comprises installation of the two new twin-strand machines, designed for an overall production exceeding seven million tonnes of qualified slabs per year.
The product mix will cover 230- to 250-mm thick, 1100- to 2150-mm wide slabs. The grades to be produced include a wide mix for both hot rolled and cold rolled coil applications, ranging from interstitial-free (IF) grades for deep drawing applications, to carbon grades (from low to high C) Dual Phase, Trip Steels, pipe grades up to X100, and HSLA steels.
Danieli Davy Distington is the Danieli product line in charge of slab caster design. Among other qualifying orders in China, this is the second "jumbo" casting complex recently awarded to Danieli, following the Handan project designed for a total production exceeding five million tonnes of slabs per year; this project is currently in the engineering phase.
