Danieli to Supply Shiftable Reversing Blooming Mill for Metal Ravne
Sep. 1, 2006
Sep. 2006 — Metal Ravne, Slovenia, has contracted Danieli Morgårdshammar to replace its blooming mill in operation at Ravne.
The new 930-mm diameter, shiftable-type blooming stand will feature stiff housingless design, fast gap setting, a quick roll-package changing system, and a 5700-kW AC motor drive.
The entire stand height of the new mill will be adjustable to the roller table level by means of screw jacks, for compensating the difference from new roll diameter to scrap diameter, and also to cope with the different pass height on the bullhead and in the box grooves.
The upgraded mill will produce a wide range of engineering steels, special steels and high-alloy tool steels. The mill will produce up to 510-mm wide slabs (design for up to 800-mm) as well as billets in hot and cold work tool steels. The maximum rolled stock weight is 3,000 kg.
Danieli Morgårdshammar will be responsible for the complete turnkey supply package. Danieli Automation will supply the electricals, control and automation systems. Startup of the new mill is scheduled to take place by autumn of 2007.
Metal Ravne is a leading European producer of high-alloy steel.
