ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih Upgrades Gas and Dust Treatment Facilities
May 22, 2009 ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih is starting up a newly reconstructed dust and gas treatment process for the treatment of dust and gas from the plant’s electric arc furnaces and forging plant.
The newly upgraded facilities are designed to minimize the plant’s negative impact on the local environment by reducing air emissions. The facilities will treat the outgoing gases of electric arc steelmaking furnaces DSP-3А, DSP-6N2, DSP-12I4 and DSP-25NО1.
The company said the refurbished gas treatment facilities have helped to bring the dust content of furnace DSP-3A to approximately 6 mg/m3, as compared to 20 mg/m3 prior to the upgrade. For the DSP-6N2 furnace, construction and installation have been completed and start-up work is ongoing.
The turnkey job was carried out by the Science Research Institute of Ukraine in Zaporozhe.
