Steel Producers / Gallatin Steel Gallatin Steel Named One of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky

Apr. 12, 2006

April 12, 2006 — Gallatin Steel has been recognized again this year as one of the best places to work in the State of Kentucky.

“Gallatin Steel has a very talented and committed workforce. Our associates’ dedication to safety and excellence on the job have made this company successful, and we are excited and honored on their behalf to have been selected among the best places to work in our state for the second year in a row,” said Gallatin Steel President, Don Daily.

“The Best Places to Work in Kentucky” competition is based on Fortune magazine’s list of “Best Companies to Work for in America.”

The selection process is based on an assessment of each company’s human resource policies and practices and the results of internal employee surveys. For the competition, the state’s 17,000 employers were separated into two categories: companies with 25-199 employees and companies with 200 employees or more. This year, Gallatin Steel ranked 16th in the large company division.

The 2006 “Best Places to Work” competition was sponsored by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the State Council of the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Gallatin Steel in Ghent, Ky., is a flat-rolled carbon steel producer employing approximately 430 people. The company is located on the banks of the Ohio River approximately one hour from both Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio.
