Harsco Expands Services to UK Industrial Sector with New Acquisition
Oct. 13, 2009 Harsco Corp. announced its acquisition of Nicol UK Ltd., a multi-disciplined provider of industrial insulation services, site services, and scaffolding to major petrochemical, energy and industrial clients throughout the UK. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Harsco said the acquisition will help to strengthen its position in the UK industrial sector by allowing it to offer a multi-disciplined service package combining Harsco's scaffolding expertise and resources with Nicol's additional capabilities for thermal insulation and cladding, site cleaning and industrial painting.
"The UK industrial sector has remained relatively buoyant throughout the economic downturn, reflecting ongoing, recurring investment in plant maintenance and essential upkeep,” said Harsco Chairman and CEO Salvatore D. Fazzolari. “Expanding our capabilities to be a more complete, one-stop service provider will enhance our value to this sector's many large, blue chip clients."
The privately held Nicol UK has annual sales of approximately $25 million. Its acquisition is expected to be accretive to Harsco's earnings within its first year.
