Harsco Expands Onsite Services with New Contract at Dunkerque
May 5, 2010 Harsco Corp. announced a new Harsco Metals outsourced mill services contract with ArcelorMittal’s Dunkerque works in northern France
Valued at approximately $18 million over its duration, the new five-year contract builds on Harsco’s 40-year history of providing onsite mill services at the facility. Under the new contract, Harsco will expand its onsite role to provide refractory maintenance and meltshop services in continuous support of the mill’s ladle metallurgy furnace and converter operations.
“Coming out of the deep downturn of late 2008 and 2009, it is gratifying to see the industry’s leading producers continuing to recognize Harsco’s knowledge-based solutions and strong capital resources as integral to their recovery goals,” said Harsco Metals CEO Galdino Claro in announcing the award.
The Harsco Metals unit supports steel and metals producers as an on-site service partner at more than 160 mills in over 35 countries.
ArcelorMittal’s Dunkerque facility, an integrated steel mill, produces over 6 million tons of steel per annum for the automotive industry and other customers.
Harsco Corp., one of the world’s leading diversified industrial services and engineered products specialists, serves a range of key industries including infrastructure, metals, railways and energy.
