Feb. 7, 2012 - AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke recently placed an order with SMS Siemag for the supply of a two-strand vertical-type continuous caster, which is scheduled for commissioning in spring 2014.

SMS Meer to Expand Bar Mill for Deutsche Edelstahlwerke
Jan. 27, 2012 - Deutsche Edelstahlwerke has contracted SMS Meer for the expansion of the 3-roll Precision Sizing Mill at its Siegen-Geisweid, Germany, plant to include an automatic size control system with cross-section measuring module. The project is scheduled to be implemented in spring 2012.

SMS Siemag to Supply VOD Facility for Ellwood National Steel
Dec. 23, 2011 - Ellwood National Steel has placed an order with SMS Siemag LLC to supply a Vacuum Oxygen Decarburizing facility. The new unit will be the first in the USA to operate with a mechanical vacuum pump rather than a steam ejector system and boiler.

SMS Siemag Starts up X-Melt Steelworks, X-Cast Caster for Maghreb Steel
Dec. 16, 2011 - SMS Siemag successfully put into operation an X-Melt® electric steelmaking plant and an X-Cast® slab caster at Maghreb Steel in Morocco. The facilities are designed for an annual production of 1 million tonnes of steel and will supply the Steckel rolling mill and the heavy-plate mill with input stock.

SMS Siemag to Supply two Annealing Lines for Panzhihua
Nov. 28, 2011 - Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group has placed an order with SMS Siemag for two continuous annealing lines for the company’s new works in Xichang, Sichuan province. The lines will process in excess of 1.7 million tonnes of high-quality steel strips per year for the automotive and electrical appliances industries.

SMS Meer to Supply Forging Line to Dongfeng Nissan
Nov. 25, 2011 - Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company has placed an order with SMS Meer for a wedge press with forging roll for the company’s new forging works in China. The plant will enable Dongfeng Nissan to produce various con rod sizes for passenger cars flexibly and fully automatically in a minimum of time.

Continuous Homogenizing and Sawing Plant from Hertwich is Commissioned
Nov. 11, 2011 - Hertwich Engineering successfully commissioned a continuous homogenizing and sawing plant at Fonderie Pandolfo in Maniago, Italy. With the new billet production line Pandolfo produces the billets for its own extrusion plant and for sales, and processes the extrusion scrap within the plant.
