Siemens Updates LD Converter at AHMSA's Monclova Works
Feb. 3, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received an order from Altos Hornos de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. (AHMSA) to modernize the LD converter in the Monclova steelworks in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The contract is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2013.
Siemens to Modernize Two Bar Mills for Diaco in Colombia
Feb. 2, 2012 - Diaco, the Colombian branch of Brazilian company Gerdau, has contracted Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to modernize two bar mills at its Tuta and Tocancipá locations, scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2012.
Siemens to Supply Bar Mill for ASCE Group OJSC, Armenia
Jan. 25, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Armenian steelmaker ASCE Group OJSC to supply a new bar mill for its production location in Charentsavan. The scope of the project includes the mechanical equipment, electric and automation, the water treatment plant, and auxiliaries.
Siemens to Supply Baku Steel with EAF, Waste Gas Cleaning Plant
Jan. 24, 2012 - Azerbaijani steel producer Baku Steel has ordered a new electric arc furnace from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies as part of an expansion project to raise its production capacity to around 1.1 million tonnes of steel per annum. The project also includes the supply of mechanical equipment for a ladle furnace and a waste gas cleaning system.

Jan. 18, 2012 - Bhushan Steel Ltd. has contracted Siemens to supply the electrical and automation equipment for the expansion of its existing hot-strip mill in Meramandali, in the Indian Federal State of Orissa. The equipment is scheduled to be supplied in 2012.
Baosteel Orders New Bar Mill from Siemens
Jan. 17, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Baosteel Engineering & Technology Co. Ltd. to supply a new bar mill to the Shaoguan Iron and Steel Group that is to commence operation in early 2013.
Siemens to Modernize Medium-Section Mill for Riva
Jan. 13, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Riva Acciaio to modernize the roughing train of the medium-section mill in Sellero, Italy, which is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2012.

Nov. 17, 2011 - Xingtai Iron & Steel recently awarded Siemens VAI Metals Technologies the final acceptance certificate for secondary steelmaking facilities and a four-strand continuous billet caster, part of a new specialty and stainless steelworks in the Hebei Province.
voestalpine Stahl Starts Up Automated Thick Slab Caster from Siemens VAI
Nov. 10, 2011 - voestalpine Stahl GmbH successfully cast the first two ladle heats on September 20 in the new CC7 continuous casting line delivered by Siemens VAI. The casting line is designed to produce slabs with thicknesses up to 355 mm at widths of up to 2200 mm.
Siemens Introduces New Quick-Exchange Pinch-Roll Cassette
Nov. 9, 2011 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies offers hot-strip mill operators a new method for changing the pinch rolls in downcoilers. The pinch-roll unit, designed as a quick-exchange cassette, can reportedly be replaced within 10 minutes without additional interruption of production.
