Siemens Receives Order from ATI for Integrated Hot-Rolling Mill
Jul. 28, 2010 - Allegheny Technologies Inc. awarded a contract to Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbH to design, engineer, and supply a complete integrated hot-rolling mill on a process turn-key basis. The new mill will be part of a new advanced specialty metals hot-rolling and processing facility, and will be built at ATI Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge, Pa.

Siemens to Modernize Long-Product Rolling Mill for Posco
Jul. 27, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Posco Specialty Steel Co. Ltd. to modernize the long-product rolling mill in its Changwon Works. The modernization is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.

Siemens Modernizes EAFs in Finland, Saudi Arabia
Jul. 22, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received orders to modernize electric arc furnaces for both the Saudi Iron and Steel Co. (Hadeed) and Outokumpu Oy. Both plants will be equipped with a new hydraulic system to improve the efficiency, availability, and productivity of the furnaces.

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih Orders Ladle Met Equipment, Billet Caster from Siemens
Jul. 13, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies will supply the ArcelorMittal steelworks in Kryviy Rih, Ukraine, with secondary metallurgical equipment, a six-strand billet caster, and the requisite auxiliary systems. The new plants are designed for an annual production of 1.4 million tonnes of billets and are scheduled to come into operation in September 2011.

Luoyang Longding Alu Orders Process Automation Systems from Siemens
Jul. 1, 2010 - Siemens Ltd. China has received an order from Luoyang Longding Alu Co., Ltd. to supply 26 Siroll ALU TCS process automation systems for its new aluminum rolling mill. The project also includes the first order for new Siroll Heavy Duty Shapemeter flatness measurement systems.

Siemens VAI to Supply Rod Mill to Taihan Electric
Jun. 24, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from the Southwire Co. to supply a copper rod rolling mill and the associated coil handling system. The end customer is Taihan Electric Wire Co. Ltd. of Seoul, Korea. The new mill will be delivered by the end of 2010.

Siemens to Modernize Slab Steel Works in Indonesia
Jun. 22, 2010 - Siemens has received an order from PT Krakatau Steel of Cilegon, Indonesia, to completely modernize its slab steel works no. 1. The modernized works is scheduled to come into production in the summer of 2012.

ATI Selects Siemens VAI for New Advanced Integrated Hot-Rolling Mill
Jun. 22, 2010 - Allegheny Technologies Inc. has selected Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to design, engineer, and supply the hot-rolling mill for ATI Allegheny Ludlum’s Brackenridge, Pa., new advanced specialty metals hot-rolling and processing facility, which is expected to be completed in about four years.

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, Siemens Begin Construction of CCM
Jun. 3, 2010 - ArcelorMittal, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, and Siemens VAI jointly announced that construction of the first Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) at the ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih has begun. Capacity of the new CCM will be over 1.2 million tonnes of steel per year; start-up is targeted for September 2011.

Henan Jiyuan Orders Wire Rod Outlet from Siemens VAI
May 25, 2010 - The Henan Jiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. has ordered a wire rod outlet from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies for its first imported rod mill that will produce higher-quality steel grade products for the company. The project is scheduled for completion by late 2011.

First Installation of Siemens LiquiRob at Riva Group EAF
May 13, 2010 - The Riva Group has become the first steel producer to use the Siemens LiquiRob robot system at an electric arc furnace. The technology has been installed in its French plant in Neuves-Maisons where it handles sampling and temperature and Celox measurements.

Arvedi Grants Acceptance to Siemens for Endless Strip Line
May 12, 2010 - Acciaieria Arvedi SpA has issued the Final Acceptance Certificate to Siemens VAI for its new Arvedi ESP line in Cremona, which has successfully cast 80-mm thin strands at speeds in excess of six meters per minute and endlessly rolled hot strip down to a thickness of 0.8 mm.
