Industry Suppliers / More srl MORE to Install Module Technology for Kroman Çelik Sanayii EAF

Jan. 29, 2009
Kroman Çelik Sanayii A.Ş, located in Gebze, Turkey, has awarded a contract to MORE srl (Gemona del Friuli-Italy) to install its Module Technology fix injection system in their new 150-tonne EAF.

MORE’s Module Technology optimizes oxygen and carbon injection into the EAF using side wall injectors to add exothermic energy over and above the energy from the electrical arc. The highly innovative technology helps to optimize the melting process, increase productivity and maximize EAF efficiency.

MORE’s chemical energy package includes the supply of five OxygenJet combination burner/supersonic-oxygen injectors and three CarbonJet combination burner/carbon injectors in the EAF shell, as well as oxygen and natural gas valves stands, three MOCA-carbon dispensers, and electrical and automation systems with Human Machine Interface.

MORE will also equip the furnace with its CATFIS automatic temperature/sampling manipulator, which can be operated automatically through the slag door. According to the company, the system will help to improve operator safety, eliminate manual operation in front of the slag door, and reduce transformer costs through process optimization and total reliability of the measurements.

Equipment start-up is foreseen for first quarter of 2010.

With this newest installation, MORE now has a scorecard of 110 electric arc furnaces worldwide that are equipped with its Module Technology.
