NORTHWEST PIPE HEADLINES

Steel Producers / Northwest Pipe Northwest Pipe to Expand Saginaw Facility

Jan. 17, 2012
Northwest Pipe Company announced plans for a significant expansion to its Saginaw, Texas, manufacturing facility.

The mill expansion will increase the diameter and thickness ranges of the plant’s spiral welded steel pipe from 96" x 5/8" to 126" x 1". In addition to the expanded mill capabilities, the capital improvement project includes two new buildings, upgraded hydrostatic testing equipment, extended cement mortar lining capabilities and new inside and outside diameter paint equipment. The company said the expansion, which will commence in this year’s first quarter and is anticipated to take one year to complete, will allow the company to better serve the needs of anticipated large water projects in the area.

"Completion of the Saginaw expansion will allow us to leverage our ideally situated proximity to Tarrant Regional Water District's planned Integrated Pipeline Project and give us expanded capabilities to serve additional water projects in the region," said Scott Montross, Chief Operating Officer.

With a history that dates back more than 100 years, Northwest Pipe has become a leading manufacturer in the welded steel pipe industry.

Headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., Northwest Pipe’s Water Transmission Group is a leading supplier of high pressure, highly engineered steel pipe products. With seven Water Transmission manufacturing facilities, the group serves a wide range of markets with products used in a variety of applications including water transmission, plant piping, energy, tunnels, river crossings, structural, industrial and construction.

The company’s Tubular Products Group operates three technologically-advanced ERW (Electric Resistance Weld) mill facilities. Tubular Products portfolio serves a wide range of markets and its quality certified pipe and tube products are used in a variety of applications including energy, oil and gas, structural industrial, fire protection, low pressure and agricultural. The company is headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., and has manufacturing facilities in the United States and Mexico.
