AIST Announces President, Officers for 2007–2008
May 24, 2007 Charles J. Messina, Vice President, Praxair Metals Technologies, Indianapolis, Ind., has been appointed President of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) for 2007–2008. He replaces outgoing president Richard P. Teets Jr., Executive vice President, Steel Dynamics Inc., Ft. Wayne, Ind.
AIST announced its new executive officers and board of directors during the organization’s annual conference and exposition, AISTech 2007, which was held May 7–10 in Indianapolis. Also appointed as officers were:
- First Vice President— Andrew S. Harshaw, Vice President — Manufacturing, Dofasco Inc., Hamilton, Ont., Canada
- Second Vice President — John J. Ferriola, Executive Vice President, Nucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C.

AISTech 2007was one of the largest gatherings of industry personnel in the world this year. The four-day conference program encompassed more than 350 technical presentations, and exhibits by almost 400 domestic and international companies. More than 5,500 people attended. The organization will hold AISTech 2008 — The Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition on May 5–8, 2008, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
