Bhilai Steel Plant Sets Record for Converter Lining Life Dec. 2, 2010 - Bhilai Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has set a national benchmark with Converter ‘C’ in its Steel Melting Shop-II recording 12,325 heats in lining life before it was taken down for relining. The plant broke its own previous national record for top-blown converters of 11,036 heats achieved by Converter ‘B’.
