NLMK USA Sets New Records in Production and Quality Feb. 7, 2012 - NLMK’s plant at NLMK Indiana has ended 2011 setting 10 new production records, including the production of a new annual tonnage record for the meltshop of 672,756 cast tons with an average tap-to-tap time of 71.31 minutes. Capacities were running at over 90%.

Siemens to Expand Bhushan Steel Hot Strip Mill Jan. 18, 2012 - Bhushan Steel Ltd. has contracted Siemens to supply the electrical and automation equipment for the expansion of its existing hot-strip mill in Meramandali, in the Indian Federal State of Orissa. The equipment is scheduled to be supplied in 2012.

USITC Makes Decision on Cut-to-Length Carbon Steel Plate Dec. 6, 2011 - The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping and countervailing duty orders on cut-to-length carbon-quality steel plate from India, Indonesia, and Korea would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time. The existing orders on imports of these products from Italy and Japan will be revoked as a result of the Commission's negative determinations.

Tata Steel to Mothball Llanwern Hot Strip Mill Dec. 5, 2011 - Tata Steel has temporarily mothballed the hot strip mill at its Llanwern site in Newport, South Wales, effective immediately. The company expects the facility to remain mothballed until the UK economy and steel demand justify a restart.
