April 2006 — SSAB Oxelösund, Sweden, recently awarded Sert Metal, France, an order to revamp their AMLC system.

Sert’s scope of supply includes a UCN3000 controller, latest-generation DEM9M electric servo-actuators with brushless motors and MQS120M high-precision ball bearing stopper guiding system, which will be installed on two existing single-strand slab casters.

With mould sizes ranging from 220x900 to 290x1700 mm, the casters are capable of a maximum speed of 1.45 meters/minute. They utilize an NKK level sensor installed during the 1990s, and are used to produce carbon steel slabs.

Sert expects to commission the new mould level control system in 2006.
