The United Steelworkers announced that it has held productive and encouraging discussions with H.I.G. Capital regarding their interest in acquiring Sheffield Steel.

The Union indicated that meetings held in Pittsburgh have laid a solid foundation for building a long-term, constructive, collective bargaining relationship with H.I.G. Capital, in the event that H.I.G. is successful in its bid to purchase 100% of the Sheffield Steel businesses.

The Union further indicated that with additional discussions, it was hopeful that it could quickly get to a position of active support for H.I.G.'s efforts. It noted that such discussion would involve both International and Local Union leadership.
