Russula to Upgrade Shiu Wing Steel Bar Mill
Apr. 1, 2006 April 2006 — Shiu Wing Steel, Hong Kong, has selected Russula Corp. to upgrade the control system and drives for their 19-stand bar mill, including two intermediate start/stop shears.
The automation system will include the latest recipe management system, cascade speed control, low tension control and automatic loop control. The shear control will be implemented in the new RT400 technology.
Russula’s scope of supply includes a Wonderware HMI system, Siemens S7-400 Controllers, an IBA high-speed data acquisition system, and new operator control desks. Russula will upgrade the existing drives with Profibus, provide installation advisement, and be responsible for commissioning, training and spare parts.
Equipment will be installed and started up during a planned plant shutdown in October 2006.
Russula is an independent engineering company specializing in upgrading the electrical equipment of rod and bar mills, with major facilities in Spain, Brazil and the United States. This contract represents the 56th major long products project for Russula in the last 5 years and its first ever in China.
