Sep. 19, 2006 — Steel Dynamics’ Board of Directors has approved a regular quarterly cash dividend of $.20 per common share, which reflects an increase of 100%. The board also approved the continuance of a special cash dividend of $0.10 per common share.

"This increase in our quarterly cash dividend further emphasizes our optimistic outlook concerning Steel Dynamics current and future financial strength," stated Keith E. Busse, President and CEO. "We are pleased to be able to reward our loyal shareholders with an increased dividend and look forward to driving continued growth from our existing operations as well as through new opportunities."

The company said the board intends to continue to declare the special dividend of $0.10 per common share on a quarterly basis for the remainder of 2006.

Shareholders of record at the close of business on September 29, 2006 will receive a combined cash dividend of $0.30 per common share payable on October 10, 2006.
