Steel Producers / Steel Processors PTC Alliance to Meet with Federal Mediator and Union

Oct. 4, 2007
Welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing manufacturer PTC Alliance Corp. has agreed to a federal mediator's request that it meet with the mediator and the United Steelworkers to discuss the strike of roughly 200 workers at its Alliance, Ohio, plant.

"We are committed to reaching a consensual agreement with the United Steelworkers that is in the best interest of the company, its employees, and its customers," said Cary Hart, Chief Operating Officer of PTC Alliance's North American Tubing business. "We trust the union has the same goal."

The date of the meeting has not yet been confirmed. The company said that it would continue production at the plant in the meantime, as orders have continued to come in as expected.

"Our management team at the plant is doing a great job ensuring orders are filled with the highest possible quality standards," said Mr. Hart. "Orders continue to come in on a normal schedule and there have been no cancellations. It's business as usual at the Alliance, Ohio plant."

PTC Alliance is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, fabricated parts, precision components and chrome-plated rod. The company's major customers include steel service centers, automotive and truck manufacturers, construction and agricultural equipment OEMs and machinery and appliance makers. PTC Alliance operates eleven factories in North America and a manufacturing complex in Germany.
