Total Steel Import Permit Tons up 21% in January
Feb. 3, 2012 - Total steel import permit applications reached 2,691,000 net tons for the month of January 2012, a 21% increase from the 2,230,000 permit tons recorded in December according to the most recent report from AISI.

Preliminary Finished Steel Imports Up 15% in 2011 vs. 2010
Jan. 25, 2012 - The U.S. imported a total of 1,997,000 net tons of steel in December, down 6% vs. the November final data, according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 9% through the same period.

Stainless Imports up 24.9% Through YTD October 2011
Jan. 16, 2012 - Total stainless imports reached 664,583 tons through YTD October 2011 a 24.9% increase compared to YTD October 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) reached 850,948 tons through the same period, a 25.5% increase.

Finished Steel Import Permit Tons up 16% in 2011 vs. 2010
Jan. 6, 2012 - Steel import permit applications totaled 2,208,000 net tons for the month of December 2011, a 9% increase from the 2,027,000 permit tons recorded in November 2011 according to the latest report from AISI.

Preliminary Steel Imports Down 10% in November
Dec. 29, 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,107,000 net tons of steel in November, down 10% vs. the October final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 13% through the same period.

Stainless Imports up 31% Through YTD September 2011
Dec. 15, 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 606,917 tons through YTD September 2011, a 30.9% increase compared to YTD September 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) reached 773,137 tons through the same period, a 30.3% increase.

Steel Import Permits Down 14% in November
Dec. 9, 2011 - Steel import permit applications totaled 1,984,000 net tons for the month of November, a 14% decrease from the 2,309,000 permit tons recorded in October according to the latest report from AISI.

Preliminary Finished Steel Imports Up 4% in October
Nov. 23, 2011 - The U.S. imported a total of 2,192,000 net tons of steel in October, down 3% vs. September final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were up 4% through the same period.

Imports of Stainless Pipe and Tube up Substantially in 2011
Nov. 18, 2011 - Imports of seamless stainless steel pipe and tube are up substantially in 2011 over the same period in 2010, according to the latest report from the Stainless Steel Tube Trade Advancement Committee.

Stainless Imports up 35% Through YTD August 2011
Nov. 10, 2011 - Total stainless imports reached 557,407 tons through YTD August 2011, a 34.4% increase compared to YTD August 2010 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) reached 704,798 tons through the same period, a 33.7% increase.
