ThyssenKrupp Steel USA announced the appointment of Christian Dohr as its President and CEO effective January 1, 2012. Dohr replaces Chris Lackinger, who is leaving to assume other responsibilities within the ThyssenKrupp Group.
 
“ThyssenKrupp remains unquestionably confident in the success of its new operations in Alabama and its ability to provide industry setting standards in quality and service to our current and future customers,” said Dohr. “I’m fortunate to be inheriting an assembled team of nearly 2000 talented and dedicated people. I’m looking forward to supporting them in our mission of becoming the premier steel producer in the NAFTA market.”
 
In his new position, Dohr will further focus the Calvert-based company’s sales goals and commitment to customer service and quality.
 
Dohr an engineer with executive-level management and marketing experience in the steel industry, currently serves as President and CEO of ThyssenKrupp’s TWB Company (TWB), a tailor welded blank manufacturer based in Monroe, Mich. He has worked for ThyssenKrupp for more than 20 years, and has previously served as Managing Director of ThyssenKrupp Tailored Blanks in Europe, where he set up and supervised plants in Italy, Sweden, Turkey and Mexico.
 
Dohr holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
