AISI Commends ITC Decision on Hot-Rolled Steel Duties
Oct. 12, 2007 The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) decision in the 5-year sunset review of antidumping and countervailing duty orders covering imports of hot-rolled sheet:

“We are pleased by the unanimous decision of the ITC to maintain antidumping orders on hot-rolled steel from China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Ukraine. This reflects, at least in part, the Department of Commerce’s previous determination that likely dumping and subsidy margins from all of the 10 countries under review would be substantial and revocation of the orders at issue would be likely to result in a resumption of unfairly-traded imports from each of the 10 countries.
The domestic steel industry will be vigilant and aggressive in responding to any resumption of injurious dumping in the U.S. market, and we fully expect that U.S. trade remedy laws will be vigorously enforced going forward, as the President has promised.”
