ITC to Continue Cases on PC Strand from China
Jul. 13, 2009 The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has found reasonable indication of threat of material injury to a U.S. industry due to imports of prestressed concrete steel wire strand from China that are allegedly subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.
All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.
The Commission's affirmative determinations will prompt the U.S. Department of Commerce to continue conducting its countervailing and antidumping duty investigations on imports of this product from China
The investigations address prestressed concrete steel wire strand — a collection of wire rod bars, typically covered with an epoxy material that is used primarily in pre- and post-tensioned prestressed concrete construction applications. Petitioners for this case are American Spring Wire Corp. of Bedford Heights, Ohio; Insteel Wire Products Co. of Mt. Airy, N.C.; and Sumiden Wire Products Corp. of Dickson, Tenn.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s preliminary countervailing duty determination is due on or about August 20, 2009. Its preliminary antidumping duty determination is due on or about November 3, 2009.
