Canadian Agency to Terminate Duties on Stainless Wire from Korea, Switzerland, U.S. and India
Jul. 31, 2009 The Canadian International Trade Tribunal announced the termination of antidumping duties on stainless steel wire from Korea, Switzerland and the United States and countervailing duties on stainless steel wire from India. The Tribunal’s orders follow expiry review of its July 30, 2004, findings (Inquiry No. NQ-2004-001) regarding the dumping of stainless steel wire from the Republic of Korea, Switzerland and the United States of America and the subsidizing of stainless steel wire from India..
In its expiry review, the Tribunal found that the dumping of stainless steel wire from Korea, Switzerland and the United States, and the subsidizing of stainless steel wire from India were unlikely to result in injury.
As a result of the Tribunal’s findings, the Canada Border Services Agency will no longer continue to impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on these products.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
