Steel Producers / U.S. Steel U. S. Steel Announces Two Appointments in Fairless Region

Feb. 3, 2006

Feb. 3, 2006 — United States Steel Corp. announced two appointments in the Fairless Hills region of its USS Real Estate division. Stephen W. Bilan has been named General Manager—Realty Development, East; and Dennis M. Jones to Regional Manager. Both appointments, which are effective January 1, are located at the company's Keystone Industrial Port Complex in Bucks County, Pa.

In his new position, Bilan will be principally responsible for the redevelopment of the Keystone Industrial Port Complex and USS Real Estate's eastern properties.

Bilan began his career in U. S. Steel's former mining division in 1976, and progressed through a number of managerial engineering and sales positions. From 1990 to 1992, he served as Manager of Purchasing and Environmental Engineering, respectively, for the U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works, which includes the Fairless Plant. With responsibility for buying and managing environmental consulting, engineering and technical services, he became involved in redeveloping the land surrounding Fairless for productive use. In 1998, he returned to the mining unit as Director of Engineering, then General Manager of Sales, and in 2000, he was named Vice President of International Export Sales. He was transferred to the USS Real Estate division in 2002 as Regional Manager for Fairless.

Bilan holds a master's degree in business administration from Waynesburg College, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University.

Jones joined U. S. Steel in 1989 as a Project Engineer at the Fairless Plant. He progressed through several engineering and operating positions before he was named Operations Manager in 2000. He holds a master's degree in business administration from Rider College, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University.
