Steel Producers / Universal Stainless Oates Becomes Chairman of the Board of Universal Stainless

Jun. 15, 2010
Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. President and CEO Dennis M. Oates has assumed the additional post of Chairman of the Board of Directors.

As Chairman of the Board, Oates succeeds Clarence M. ("Mac") McAninch, who retired from the Board at the Shareholders' Meeting in May. McAninch had retired in compliance with the company's policy on mandatory age limitations for Directors.

"For the past two years, we have executed a strategy to position Universal Stainless for growth through a focus on significantly improving operational efficiency and customer service and by investing in our facilities to support this strategy,” said Oates. “While there is potential for more improvement, our entire team has made substantial progress in this regard.

“In adding the position of Chairman, I have committed to our Board to use all the resources of Universal Stainless to build a world-class stainless company based on customer service, technology and innovation," concluded Oates.

Oates has served as Universal Stainless President and CEO since 2008.
