December Steel Shipments Up 11.3% from Previous Month
Mar. 11, 2010 - U.S. steel mills shipped 6,035,000 net tons for the month of December 2009, an 11.3% increase from the previous month’s shipments according to the latest report from AISI.
World Crude Steel Output Climbs Another 2.1% in January 2010
Feb. 23, 2010 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 109.24 million tonnes in January 2010 — 2.1% higher than the previous month (December 2009) but about 26% higher than January 2009.
Canadian Steel Shipments Rise Sharply in January
Feb. 17, 2010 - January steel product shipments from Canadian metals service centers were 9.2% higher than in January 2009, according to the latest Metals Activity Report from MSCI.
World Crude Steel Output Decreases by 8.0% in 2009
Jan. 25, 2010 - Despite a 13.5% year-on-year increase in crude steel production from China, world crude steel production decreased by about 8.0% in 2009 compared to 2008, with an estimated production total of 1220 million tonnes.
November Steel Shipments Down 11% from October
Jan. 22, 2010 - U.S. steel mills shipped 5,424,000 net tons for the month of November 2009, an 11.0% decrease from the 6,097,000 net tons shipped in the previous month according to the latest report from AISI.
Steel, Aluminum Inventories Rise in U.S. and Canada
Jan. 21, 2010 - Inventories of steel and aluminum products at metals service centers in the United States and Canada rose slightly in December as shipments of those products declined seasonally, according to the latest Metals Activity Report from the Metals Service Center Institute.
World Steel Production up 24% in November
Dec. 22, 2009 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 107.48 million tonnes in November 2009 — 5.2% lower than the previous month (October 2009) but 24.2% higher than November 2008.
October Steel Shipments Up 5.3% from September
Dec. 21, 2009 - U.S. steel mills shipped 6,097,000 net tons for the month of October 2009, a 5.3% increase over September according to the latest report from AISI.
Service Center Shipments Decline at Slower Rate in November
Dec. 16, 2009 - Despite declining shipments of steel and aluminum from U.S. and Canadian metals service centers in November, MSCI’s latest Metals Activity Report indicates there are signs that the market may be stabilizing.
