Danieli Completes Existing Wire Rod Mill at Diler Demir Çeljk
Feb. 25, 2010 The 400,000-tonnes-per-year Danieli high-speed wire rod mill—in operation at the 1.2 million-tonnes-per-year steel complex of Diler Demir Çeljk in Gebze, Turkey, since July 2008—has been completed with the installation of a new straight bar production outlet.
The new line, successfully started up in the second half of 2009, enables production of 8 to 50-mm-diameter deformed bars and 16 to 40-mm plain round bars at output levels of up to 100 tonnes per hour. This broadens the mill’s original production range that includes 5.5 to 18-mm-diameter plain and 6 to 16-mm-diameter deformed wire rod in 2.3-tonne coils.
The new straight bar line consists of a QTB quenching and self-tempering line for deformed bars, 78-m-long cooling bed with entry and delivery facilities, cut-to-length, bar counting, bundling, tying, and collecting services.
The associated advanced automation system and electrical equipment has been supplied by Danieli Automation.
